VIII Congress Wine Museums

In November 2002 Valdepeñas hosted the first National Congress of Wine Museums, which served as initial contact to analyze in depth the situation of these social referents and their implantation in the growing offer of cultural tourism. The intention was to establish the foundations for a museum infrastructure that would guarantee the winemaking tradition in the most important producing areas of Spain..

The Association of Wine Museums of Spain aims to promote the meeting, cooperation and study of museums and theme centers associated Wine, for promotion, dissemination and defense of common interests and activities, as well as promoting and spreading wine culture in general and of each wine region in particular.

this association, constituted in 2005, brings together the bulk of the Museums Wine Spain, whose work and dedication make it possible to keep alive such an important part of our historical and cultural heritage, offering every day a beautiful walk through the history of our wines and showing through its contents the essence of traditional cultivation and production tasks.

Wine museums are one of the most paradigmatic examples of the close relationship that exists between the exhibition of a heritage asset and the active participation of a public increasingly interested in the culture of wine. Certainly, These museums combine the enhancement of a local product, with a whole conceptual load as its history, technology and production process, and importance as an economic engine of certain regions, generating a feeling of reception on the part of the citizens that, in addition to delving into the culture of these wines, you can directly participate in it.

The Cangas del Narcea Wine Museum is part of the Association of Wine Museums of Spain, having promoted from the City Council the active participation in the annual congresses. These conferences represent, in addition to an interesting discussion forum to address internal issues that concern wine museums in Spain, a magnificent opportunity to promote tourism in the town and region that host them.

For Cangas del Narcea, the production of wine is one of its identifying signs with a historical character, since the presence of this crop has marked the social evolution, economic and cultural throughout the centuries.
